I am clearly getting better at Legilimency.
The most epic JKR interview EVER - Basically, she's just answering a lot of questions. It makes me happy inside. I found myself cracking up and nearing tears - haha!

Emily: What ever happened to Aberforth?
J.K. Rowling: He is still there, at the Hog's Head, playing with his goats.

OMG. Why does that crack me up so much? Just the bluntness of the answer, I s'pose. XDDD

Fomy: What did you feel when you finally wrote the kiss, awaited so much by the fans, of Ron and Hermione?
J.K. Rowling: I loved writing it, and I loved the fact that Hermione took the initiative! Ron had finally got SPEW and earned himself a snog!

-giggles- So much cute.

Lechicaneuronline: Do you think Snape is a hero?
J.K. Rowling: Yes, I do; though a very flawed hero. An anti-hero, perhaps. He is not a particularly likeable man in many ways. He remains rather cruel, a bully, riddled with bitterness and insecurity - and yet he loved, and showed loyalty to that love and, ultimately, laid down his life because of it. That's pretty heroic!

This is one of those questions I started blubbering over. It's getting quite ridiculous just how much I'm falling in love with this character.

Jaclyn: Did Lily ever have feelings back for Snape?
J.K. Rowling: Yes. She might even have grown to love him romantically (she certainly loved him as a friend) if he had not loved Dark Magic so much, and been drawn to such loathsome people and acts.

I think this is an extremely important question - well, for me, at least. James and Lily may be my OTP but I'm warming up really fast to the idea of Sev and Lily in a relationship. I wouldn't ever want them to defy canon - James and Lily belong together, simple as that. But god, they're cute. I am in love with the friendship they have and I'm open to the idea of what could have been. But again, James and Lily are the most perfect thing in the world so my heart is set on them. I think it's all just a lovely dynamic.

Nithya: Lily detested Mulciber and Avery. If Snape really loved her, why didn't he sacrifice their company for her sake?
J.K. Rowling: Well, that is Snape's tragedy. Given his time over again he would not have become a Death Eater, but like many insecure, vulnerable people (like Wormtail) he craved membership of something big and powerful, something impressive. He wanted Lily and he wanted Mulciber too. He never really understood Lily's aversion; he was so blinded by his attraction to the dark side he thought she would find him impressive if he became a real Death Eater.

Oh, Sev. ILU. So much.

Courtney: What child did Harry give the Marauders Map to, if any?
J.K. Rowling: I've got a feeling he didn't give it to any of them, but that James sneaked it out of his father's desk one day.

I admit I'm not the biggest fan of the epilogue, but the character of James the second really made me happy inside. He is so much like his grandfather.

Rachel Nell: I would like to know how come no one seemed to know that Lily and Snape were friends in school. They were obviously meeting for chats, etc. Didn't James know their past?
J.K. Rowling: Yes, it was known that they were friendly and then stopped being friends. Nothing more than that would be widely known. James always suspected Snape harboured deeper feelings for Lily, which was a factor in James' behaviour to Snape.

Oh, James. Didn't think I'd leave my undying love for him out in the cold, did you? He's such a prat. But a lovely one at that. -squishes- If I could marry/spend a day with/do something with one fictional character it would be him in a heartbeat, bar none.

Lulu: Do you think Dumbledore was a little more fond of Ron than either Ron or Harry believed?
J.K. Rowling: Yes, I do. Through Harry's account of Ron, and from reports of the professors who taught Ron, Dumbledore understood Ron better than Ron ever knew, and liked him, too.

Awwwwww.

Chely: James' Patronus is a stag and Lily's a doe. Is that a coincidence?
J.K. Rowling: No, the Patronus often mutates to take the image of the love of one's life (because they so often become the 'happy thought' that generates a Patronus).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. IT'S CANON, BITCHES. -snuggles her OTP-

Camille: Dear Mrs. Rowling, while I'm here I want to thank you for making me laugh and cry (a lot! Most of all for Sirius!).
J.K. Rowling: Thank you very much, Camille, and I'm sorry about Sirius. That man's got a lot of fans. Mostly female, I might add.

There's no question but it's about Sirius. Which is why it's included. How could that man not have a lot of fans? HE'S FREAKING SIRIUS BLACK. The second he appeared, every young girl swore off real life men for him.

Isabel: Did Bellatrix ever love her husband, or did she have love only for voldemort?
J.K. Rowling: She took a pureblood husband, because that was what was expected of her, but her true love was always Voldemort.

D: I LOVE YOU, RODOLPHUS. UR MAH FAVORIT DEATH EATER. Just so everyone knows.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm becoming insanely obsessed again. I've missed this fandom. My love has never wavered, it's just been pushed back slightly by other fandoms. I can't believe I let it go unnoticed for so long. ILU HARRY POTTER.

Just so you don't think I'm completely lost, information about the Who Christmas Special! With a lovely shot of David Morrissey. x33

OH! I got a new camera! Something like this but not nearly as expensive (still Canon, though). I think mine's a 3.0 or something. My old camera's lens got shot somehow and it was more expensive to fix it than buy a new one - so that's what I did! Didn't get a fancy one or anything (I'll be waiting for that till I'm older and travelling more) but the colours are gorgeous which is a definite plus.

Catch you later, calculators.

PS: How is it 3 in the afternoon already?

I came over here from [info]lilyandjames to look at your thoughts on the interview (it came out a while ago, didn't it?) but I admit that I ended up being more interested in the Doctor Who link, lol. *flails* I am somewhat indignant at Moffat's description of Rose as a "slightly clinging girlfriend".

ANYWAY. I happen to be in the minority of Lily/James shippers who also happen to like unrequited!Snape/Lily, and I did before DH, though I never expected it to be canon. The thing that feels off to me about Rowling's remark that Lily might have loved him if he hadn't gotten into Dark Arts or whatever is the way that is such a fundamental aspect of his character. To me it translated to "Oh, sure, she'd have loved him, if he was nicer and not a Death Eater and not into Dark Arts" which sort of translates to "if he wasn't anything like how he really is" and that's just kind of a strange statement to make.

I'm not sure when it came out but I just noticed it over at [info]harry_potter so it's the first time I've seen it.

Anyway, when I read Moffat's words to describe Rose, I wasn't too happy either. I just...no. My friend and I have had several conversations about Moffat and we've concluded that he ships Nine/Rose but not Ten/Rose. Le sigh.

Yay for being in the minority! I was never against Sev's feelings for Lily but I've really come to appreciate them in the past couple of months. It is a bit odd how she said it, isn't it? The fact of the matter is that he is dark and a Death Eater and all that. I don't think that was ever going to change but it is very much in Lily's character to try and ward him away from it. I know what you're saying though - Sev and Lily could have ended up together if he loved bunnies and rainbows, right? xD
Kali: i followed my star[info]_thirty2flavors on July 27th, 2008 04:13 am (UTC)
Yeahhh Girl in the Fireplace was certainly not very Ten/Rose friendly, lol. I'm glad they tied off the Rose storyline to give Moffat free reign (and so that I'm more willing to accept characters like River Song). Also, how adorable are Billie and David in your icon? *dies*

If Snape wasn't dark the way he is he'd be an entirely different character, is all, so it's weird to say "well sure Lily could've loved him! if... he... was someone else." I admit that it does irk me a little how ever since DH fandom basically regards Snape as a lost puppy who just needs some cuddles and they've all decide that Lily and Snape are obviously ~destined 2 b~ despite the fact that he knowingly joined a cult dedicated to eradicating people like her.
Stacie: Smile BillieDavid[info]kousuke_blade on July 28th, 2008 02:10 am (UTC)
Yeah, if they had kept her story open, Moffat may just have killed us all but torturing her somehow. Now we know it won't be too bad. I admit that I am not a fan of River in the least because of her personality and so I hope we don't see her again but if we do, I believe I'll be more accepting. SUPER CUTE. -uses another one-

Sev and Lily never could have been. I understand that Lily would think that, though. She's basically thinking if Sev could have changed his ways, "seen the light", they would have had a chance. Of course he would never would, though, and that's what makes their relationship so heartbreaking and appealing. I would never want it to change in any way. And oh, the theories going around. -sigh- That one irks me and so does the one that James forced Lily into marriage which is completely and utterly ridiculous. I mean, I love the relationship that Sev and Lily have but sorry to say, it doesn't go any farther than what we saw. Pfft, fandom.

By the way, any chance we could become friends? :D
Kali: last of the time lords[info]_thirty2flavors on July 28th, 2008 05:29 am (UTC)
If they'd left it open I'm pretty sure MOffat would've ended it himself, and I doubt he'd have ended it in a way that's as shipper friendly and actually happy as the ending we got. I know lots of shippers seem to think they got ripped off or cheated or that it was a cop out or something, but I really do think it's the happiest ending we could've asked for, so I'm down with it. Plus I have lots of love for human!Ten given that his um, main scene, was basically just being amazing with Donna.

And yeah, River Song rubbed me the wrong way, too. I liked the idea of her but the timing (in the middle of Rose's return) was a little odd and the actual character herself annoyed me. Her I KNOW SOMETHING YOU DON"T KNOW attitude drove me carzy the entire episode, and though I liked her more by the very end, I still didn't like her that much.

Hahaha I know. I really don't think Lily missed out on her ~tru luv~ by chosing James rather than Snape, and I really don't think James forced her into anything -- or that Lily would allow herself to be forced into anything. I also hate the notion that Lily is somehow the bad friend in the equation, because... just... wtf. It makes no sense.

Haha, sure! I admit that I liked your Lily/James icon so I went to see where it was from, and by browisng icons alone I was like "omg we have so many fandoms in common!" but then it seemed creepy and weird to just come oer here and say that, so I didn't. lol
Stacie: Captain Hammer[info]kousuke_blade on July 28th, 2008 07:23 am (UTC)
Oh, I am in a lot of agreement that I like how they ended the Ten/Rose arc and I liked it immediately after watching it, not after mulling over it for a couple of days. We really couldn't have asked for more lest they bend over backwards and put us into fluff land. Plus I am very very fond of human!Ten. I just love how broken he is and how Rose will heal him.

Mm, that's exactly why I didn't like River. She was way too smug for me. Just her whole vibe was off but I do admit that she redeemed herself a bit at the end. So that's always good.

Ugh, the theories that popped out after DH are quite ridiculous. First off, James would never have forced her - he may have been quite the little prat but he was pure of it. And even so, as you said, Lily would never have allowed it. She's stronger than what people take of her. And she most certainly is not the bad friend. -sigh-

Aw, man, does that make me creepy and weird? XD Haha. It's cool - we're friends now and all is well.

Thank you for pulling out the questions relating to James/Lily. I love the entire HP series, but the Marauders the most; I don't want to go trawling through some big interview to find what I'm REALLY interested in ^.^

I wonder if the Order, particularly Sirius and Remus, knew what Snape's patronus was. You would think so, considering they were used to communicate. I wonder if Snape avoided using his. You would think that Sirius and Remus would have said something - Sirius, at least, you would think would have been mildly upset over it.
Stacie: Severus Snape[info]kousuke_blade on July 27th, 2008 01:13 am (UTC)
Oh, not at all! The Marauders are pretty my what my obsession with Harry Potter consists of. I mean, I love the fandom as a whole but they deserve extra appreciation and brownie points. :D

Oh, that was addressed in the Q&A actually! I just didn't include it here. Not sure if you read the whole thing, but someone asked that question and JKR definitively stated that no one knew what Sev's Patronus was. She stated that they were used to communicate but since Sev was taking on the role of spy, it could give him away and so he didn't use it. x33
stag_night[info]stag_night on July 27th, 2008 01:35 am (UTC)
Ah! No, I didn't read it yet since you pulled out the nifty stuff, I wasn't in a rush right away XD

I suppose now I will have to lol. Though I suppose it is obvious now that he didn't use it, considering it took Dumbledore by surprise. If Dumbledore hasn't seen it, I should have assumed nobody had.

Well, I am off the read the whole thing.

Thanks for the link on the Doctor Who spoilers. I love that they have Morrissey in period costume. I read some of the stuff from the DW Comic Con panel, and arhghghg, I think I'm annoyed at Moffat. Granted, the man is a genius, but some of the things he says really irritates me! Especially:

Moffat said you have to give the Doctor credit for "dumping a sligthly clingy girlfriend" by sticking her with a clone.

I mean, I'm not a hardcore shipper on DW, but I do love the Doctor/Rose dynamic and he is so obvious that he hates it. Plus I hate River Song and don't want to see her ever again. So I'm worried about the future of the show. Not worried worried because Moffat (for the most part) is a great writer, but I think he certainly has a different vision than what we have been used to which will take some adjustment.
Stacie: GandalfLost[info]kousuke_blade on July 28th, 2008 02:12 am (UTC)
Of course! Morrissey in period costume makes me a very happy camper. :D Guh. I wish I could have gone to ComicCon. Yeah, Moffat is starting to really rub me the wrong way. I hope it's not a sign for things to come.

That statement really got to me the wrong way. Just...no. Do not want. Same with River - seeing her again would just make me unhappy. Simple as that. I respect Moffat but as you said, his vision is so different and I think we're in for quite a ride.
