Another picspam for the current challenge at [info]picspammy. Partly dedicated to a dear friend of mine.

Pirates of the Caribbean once upon a time was the fandom for me. I still hold it very fondly in my heart but to this day, one of its characters remains just as close to me, remains one of my favourite fictional characters ever. Who is this character, you ask? James Norrington.

I didn't fall in love with James immediately but when I did, I was completely lost. Where every other character had their set goals and morals (or lack of them), James was stuck in limbo. He drove several of the plots with the choices he made and the fact that he's neither black nor white but one of the grayest characters is just one of the many things that I love about him. He's so complex and complicated and all over the place and constantly caught between a rock and a hard place.

I've never done a character study before, and certainly not in the form of a picspam, but if there's any character to study, it's James Norrington.

Another entry for Challenge 13 at [info]picspammy. Timeline is a film I think is sorely underrated. It wasn't the most groundbreaking film but for what it was trying to be, an adventure film, I think it accomplished that wonderfully. Granted, I am a bit biased as I absolutely love the concept and plot but I thought the film was great as was the novel (which I read several months after).

However, this film means a bit more to me for other reasons. The fact that three of my favourite performers are in this and I saw the film before falling in love with any of them. I saw the trailer for it, thought it looked like my kind of film, and went in knowing not much else.

• Gerard Butler: I fell in love with Andre Marek throughout the entire film and I couldn't help but think that he was incredibly good looking (I was only 11, after all). A subtle love grew for him after that film and then the real feelings came after Phantom. But this film was the start.
• Michael Sheen & Anna Friel: These two people are two of my all-time favourite actors and actresses. However, I didn't really pay them much mind in this film. I fell in love with Sheen in Frost/Nixon and Friel in Pushing Daisies. However, now I can watch this film with even more fondness, especially for Friel's Lady Claire.

'We're speaking the same language but you have no idea what I'm saying, do you?' )

And I already have like two more picspams planned for this challenge, jsyk. I really, really love this challenge. 8D

Challenge 13 for [info]picspammy is to picspam something you've never picspammed before. I figured it would be appropriate to picspam something that has been a love of mine for years yet a love I've never paid tribute to appropriately. I've been watching this show since I was child. It started when I would watch it with my mom during the day and I had a feeling that she was watching it mostly for Kevin Sorbo. However, a genuine love for Greek Mythology, this show, and the character of Iolaus grew within me. The love faded for a while until I bought the first couple of seasons on DVD. It wasn't until I finally got the last three seasons on DVD that my love came back tenfold. I realized I had never seen the official ending of this series (perhaps long ago as a child but I couldn't remember most of it) and watching it with a more mature mindset and more passionate feelings, these scenes broke my heart. I had lost my favorite character and the sheer pain Hercules felt over losing his best friend hit me like a ton of bricks. I figured it was time to pay tribute to this amazing show that has been in my life for so long as well as the emotions these scenes evoked from me.

I've heard stories of sailors who are lost at sea and see lights in the northern skies. )

OMG THE NEW HALLOWEEN FIREWORKS WERE AWESOME. I GET CHILLS JUST WATCHING THIS VIDEO. SO FREAKING AWESOME. DISNEYLAND HAS GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND AGAIN AND I LOVE THEM ALL THE MORE FOR IT.

So yeah. Went to Disneyland. Partly to check out the new Fireworks and Space Mountain and parade and also just because I love this place so, so much. It's ridiculous. Maybe unhealthy. I'm so afraid to leave it next year. But let's get to happier thoughts and yesterday!

Disneyland Halloween Scream Fireworks: So if you've watched the video, you will know just how awesome these limited time fireworks are. I can't say I like them more than the 50th Anniversary ones but they were amazing. Where the 50th Anniversary ones are more emotional for me and hold more of a sentimental value, these ones just got me energetic and practically drooling with amazement. I need them on an album. The effects were awesome, Zero replacing Tinkerbell was awesome, the villains taking over was awesome. And the Hunchback musical montage at the end was amazing. JUST SO COOL, GUYS. GUH.

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy: So I had to wait 70 minutes in line for the new, Halloween Space Mountain (they advertised 95 minutes but they always overestimate) but it was a pretty awesome ride (and the effects done on the outside dome were pretty neat to watch the first couple of times in line). I actually had to close my eyes a couple of times because I got so frightened and jumpy! There's basically just this demon that follows you during the ride and pops up and is just generally frightening. It's actually a really scary looking demon and I'm not surprised that Disneyland advertises it as may being scary for children. But it was fun.

Fantasmic!: I love that I know this show backwards and forwards, line for line, lyric for lyric, musical beat for musical beat. However, they've made some improvements/added some stuff! Firstly, during Ursula's little number, they have Flotsam and Jetsam float by on the Rivers of America. Secondly, Maleficent as the dragon has improved greatly from a paper mache looking thing to a solid structure (much like the crocodile that follows the pirate ship) dragon that is grasping two top spires of a castle. It's epic.

Celebrate! A Street Dance Parade: The new parade which I dearly hope is only temporary. I didn't dislike it but I do like the 50th Anniversary Parade of Dreams much more. However, I would like to see this one again because I got a horrible spot this first time. Basically, there are three floats with lots of characters on them and they stop in front of you for about twenty minutes to have a dance party. The best part for me was that I got Reg and Alice dancing. xD They did Swing and Reg tried to be Latin and use his coat as some swishy cape and then they tried to rock n' roll. Oh, I love these two so, so much.

YAY PICTURES! )

EDIT: Something is wrong with my camera. It's been taking pretty bad quality pictures (as can be seen) and the number of pictures shot up from 507 to 5,000 something (it's done this before but only to 2,000 or so). Any ideas? Not that I mind 5,000 pictures but I'd rather only have 507 and have better quality.

Otherwise, my plans for the rest of the night are as follows: finish Beowulf, watch Merlin, finish Bones S3, maybe make a post for TV reviews and stuff, start Bones S4 (as I have it on DVD, whoo!).

But I do have to say this: GINA TORRES ON FLASH FORWARD WHOOOOOOOOOOO! I hope she becomes a regular. Sad lack of Jack Davenport. D: Totally shipping Lloyd/Olivia, btw. And wanting Dominic already.

With new fandoms come new celebrities to gush over. True Blood has brought my attention to Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin and how ridiculously adorable they are together. They've definitely become something of a celebrity OTP for me, haha. They seem so utterly happy together and that could not make me happier.

I. OH MY GOD. INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS WAS AWESOME. WORDS CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW AWESOME IT WAS.

1. ELI ROTH. WHEN DID YOU GET SO SEXY? Not to menton you look similar to ZQ but that is completely besides the point. Clearly.

I SHOULD NOT BE THINKING HOW SEXY YOU ARE WHEN YOU'RE BASHING IN THE HEAD OF A NAZI WITH A BASEBALL BAT. GODDAMN. :>

Also. This. Brad Pitt/Eli Roth BASTERD BFFS, YOU KNOW IT. Plus it's great eye candy. Brad Pitt has been a guilty pleasure of mine for ages and next to Eli Roth? I am so in.

2. THIS SOUNDTRACK. IT IS MINE ALREADY BECAUSE THE MUSIC WAS AWESOME. JUST LIKE THE FILM. See? Soundtrack queen = me. Nickname dubbed by [info]artic_fox.

OKAY. SERIOUS THOUGHT TIME.

Inglourious Basterds )

II. So I was a bit bummed today because I took my laptop to Staples for a free tune-up and won't get it back for a couple of days. That film totally made everything better. I mean, I still wish I had my laptop instead of having to use my parents computer but a free tune-up is always nice. Nothing's wrong with my laptop but getting the dust cleaned and the laptop boosted for free is never something to turn down.

EDIT: They're done with my laptop! That was fast. Unfortunatel they closed at seven. :| Why did I elave my phone in the livng room while I was in the office? I'll just go pick it up in the morning but for the rest of the night, I am commandeering my parents' computer!

III. HERE. HAVE AN INTERVIEW WITH THE CAST. INCLUDING ELI ROTH WHO IS CLEARLY ON THE BRAIN. AND THE INTERVIEWER TOTALLY AGREES THAT WE'RE ALL CHARMED BY HANS LANDA.

And here is one with just Eli Roth. I should stop.

I. So I saw District 9 last night and...whoa. What in incredible film.

District 9 )

II. I just finished S1 of Being Human and I really loved. I don't have any collective thoughts at the moment but I love, love the dynamic of Mitchell, George, and Annie. Definitely one of my favourite trios. ALSO, OWEN IS A JERK. LIKE. REALLY. >:|

III. So I've been entertaining this idea for a while now and want to get everyone's opinions. Should I watch True Blood? BRING IT ON! I want to know. First on my agenda for TV is Veronica Mars but after that, should I watch the sexy vampire show? Vampires usually aren't my thing but I'm thinking about giving this a shot. I've seen a couple of scenes and am already really enjoying Stephen Moyer so we'll see.

IV. Henry Ian Cusick to play Charles Darwin! Whoo. I am definitely excited for this. One, CHARLES DARWIN IS FREAKING AWESOME. Two, HENRY IAN CUSICK. ♥ Mmm, I definitely can't wait for him to come back to me as Desmond but Darwin is awesome too.

THE ADVENTURES OF KIRK, BONES, AND SPOCK ON SHORE LEAVE! )

I. ANYWAY. TODAY WAS WEIRD. IT WAS LIKE A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE. Because I happened upon this video of Chuck Huber. AND REALIZED HE SOUNDS A LOT LIKE MICHAEL EMERSON. And then there were more videos and videos of Kirby Morrow and Scott McNeil and it's like my past was coming back to haunt me and I was addicted and couldn't stop omg. And then there was a video of Greg and it made me want to call him and see how he's doing. And. Yeah. idek. /runs away

II. I'm watching Star Trek V: The Final Frontier ON OUR NEW HI-DEF TV. OMG IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. WITH SURROUND SOUND. But oh man, I love this movie so much. It's not even funny.

Spock: Captain.
Kirk: Spock, we're on leave you can call me 'Jim'.
Spock: Jim.
Kirk: Yes, Spock?
Spock: Life... is not a dream.
Kirk: Go to sleep, Spock.

Uhura: [Chekov and Sulu are lost in the woods of Yellowstone] Is there a problem, gentlemen?
Sulu: Uh, yes. We've been caught in a... we've been caught in a blizzard.
[Chekov blows on the communicator, simulating wind noises]
Chekov: And we can't see a thing. Request you direct us to the coordinates.
Uhura: My scanners show clear skies and 70 degrees.
Chekov: [stops blowing] Sulu, look. The sun's come out. It's a miracle.

THIS WHOLE MOVIE SHOULD HAVE JUST BEEN ABOUT EVERYONE ON SHORE LEAVE. TRUFAX.

And young Sarek is kind of hot even if he is a jerk. :|

I. The Time Traveler's Wife )

II. LINK TO ME PEOPLE. I WAS AWAY FOR FOUR DAYS OR SO. WHAT DID I MISS?

III. While I was away, though, I also saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall!

Now, I'm really picky when it comes to comedies. I won't see just any comedies but I have such a narrow limit for comedy. I can grow tired of it easily. I cannot stand comedies like Napoleon Dynamite, for example. However, Judd Appatow and I seem to be on the same page. Apparently I like the bromantic, male, raunchy comedies IDEK. But I enjoyed Knocked Up and figured I'd like Forgetting Sarah Marshall too. And you know what? I loved it even more. So much so that I bought it on DVD today on my way home.

Not to mention the fact that Kristen Bell was in it and I'm like madly in love with her. I really need to watch Veronica Mars. Anyway, the film was absolutely hilarious and I did love it. Jason Segal is always lovely and Paul Rudd makes my whole world happy (seriously - why haven't I seen I Love You, Man yet?) AND DID I MENTION KBELL? So yeah. Clearly I'm just going to have to stick with Appatow (making check out Funny People eventually even though it's gotten so many mixed reviews) and romcoms for comedies.

I've been kind of in cranky mood since I got home so I think I'm going to go watch the bonus features on the DVD now and get a laugh or two before bed.
